New York International Children’s Film Festival (NYICFF) has been redefining “film for kids” since 1997. What started out as a handful of screenings has since ballooned to three weekends of films, premieres, filmmaker Q&As, and Oscar-worthy short films. Every March, NYICFF presents roughly 100 new features and shorts from around the world for kids, families, and classrooms.
And don’t let the word “children” fool you—NYICFF regularly programs films that weren’t necessarily made with kids in mind, curating bold, thought-provoking cinema that resonates with all ages. The Festival has an incredible track record of presenting films that go on to receive Oscar nominations, including Magic Candies, a 2025 Best Animated Short nominee that qualified through the fest’s 2024 Jury Award.
